We have been unable to attain Covid-19 secure status, a legal requirement to repair PCs with our insurer.
Following a risk assessment, we are unable to offer repairs to retail customer PCs and Laptops. This is due to having to have customer units on site for a minimum of 72 hours, either side of drop off and pick-up without presenting an infection risk. Most units are considered to be aerosol generating due to having fans, this can expel particulates of dust which we do not have facilities for containment and extraction of.
One aspect that has been unclear is exactly how long Sars-CoV-2, the name of the virus that causes the disease Covid-19, can survive outside the human body. Some studies on other coronaviruses, including Sars and Mers, found they can survive on metal, glass and plastic for as long as nine days, unless they are properly disinfected. Some can even hang around for up to 28 days in low temperatures. We are unable to reduce the risk as the computer internals as electrickery doesn’t work well with disinfectant!
We hope all retail customers will understand during the Covid-19 outbreak.
This will not effect our business customers on existing and on-going maintenance contracts.
